Excellent tribological properties even under harsh operating conditions
Ceramic materials are used more and more in modern mechanical engineering. They have excellent tribological properties and allow for an unprecedented functional reliability even under difficult operating conditions.
The benefit can be recognized at a classical machine element - the friction bearing. Hardness and pressure resistance of the ceramic, together with dimensional stability, ensure a safe operation of the friction bearing with minimum friction and minimum wear. Ceramics also allow the designer to find new solutions when it comes to lubrication, operating temperature etc.
