In measurement and testing technology, high-performance ceramics from our production facility can be used for special components suitable to withstand high chemical, thermal or mechanical loads and/or fulfill other special functions.
For example, oscillating heads, (test piece fixtures), for continuous oscillation test equipment are made from Silicon nitride because of its high stiffness, low density, high strength and damage tolerance. In this situation, ceramics enable the test frequency to be doubled, thus halving the test time for these complex tests.
Ceramic Crucibles and crucible holders are used for chemical and thermal analysis where good corrosion, oxidation or high temperature resistance is essential. Components made of Silicon nitride or Carbide are also ideal for cryogenics, since this group of materials does not undergo any low-temperature embrittlement.
Furthermore, silicon nitride components such as lens mounts or housing structures improve the imaging accuracy of precise optical measuring systems, (for details see Optical bench section).
