Tiles for Ballistic Protection
Ceramic-composite armoring, roughly 50 % lighter than steel
Aluminum oxide offers a high protective effect with a low basis weight. The advantage of this material is its very high hardness with lower density, compared to steel. Thus, the use of ceramics offers a significant saving in the basis weight of the protection module. Such a module is offered as an "Add on" or as an integrated protection.
QSIL Ceramics has developed special materials for this application. The permanent further development of such materials results in a continuous optimization of the properties. This allows our customers, the manufacturers of composite modules, to meet potential threats.
The ceramic-composite armoring, which is roughly 50 % lighter than steel, meets the high requirements of the international standards for ballistic protection.
