Thermocouple protection tubes made of silicon nitride or carbide ceramics make it possible to shield thermocouples against corrosive media, high pressures and flow rates or abrasives even at particularly high temperatures.
 
Especially in the field of aluminum and non-ferrous metal foundry technology, silicon nitride protective tubes are often used. As these, in addition to chemical and thermal resistance, have an advantageous wetting behavior, a low adhesion tendency, as well as excellent thermal shock behavior and a similarly high damage tolerance.
 
In chemical process technology, protective pipes made of SSiC in particular offer a high resistance to acids, alkalis or reactive gas species. They also seal the chemical process towards the environment.
