Especially in the field of aluminum and non-ferrous metal foundry technology, silicon nitride protective tubes are often used. As these, in addition to chemical and thermal resistance, have an advantageous wetting behavior, a low adhesion tendency, as well as excellent thermal shock behavior and a similarly high damage tolerance.
In chemical process technology, protective pipes made of SSiC in particular offer a high resistance to acids, alkalis or reactive gas species. They also seal the chemical process towards the environment.
